Two Parts

May 17, 2009 § Leave a comment

Two parts of me;

split in half.

Tried to kill the

mousey one with a hand

tied behind my back.

She was stronger than she looked.

Pills and television

came and put us

back together again.

Now we sit

like a hand in glove.

The House in Durham

No one cared about the kitten.
We found it dead
Near the chicken coup.

We ran home,
to tell our mothers.
Climbing over spilt rail fences.
and through dead orchards,
across old rail tracks,
that once went to
Lovelock, Nimshew, and Inskip.
They had carried swine, beef and grain,
those trains, but
now there was nothing
but ghost trains.

The farm house
was empty
there were no mothers
no adults.
Stapled to the door
A pink paper
The animals where all gone,
our parents neglected them.

They would take us next
put us in foster homes
send us to strangers
and we forgot all
about the kitten.

Where Am I?
